It was with some disappointment I realized I was the most active manager playing draft in my 8-team league. The top team appears to be active, making 15 transactions on the season, but the other 6 managers are all inactive. While my squad continues to perform, there isn’t any real competition. Too bad it took 15 weeks to figure this out. Not sure if I will continue to post draft information, as the game just doesn’t hold the attention like its traditional counterpart we know and love.
On the week my squad rebounded from last week to pick up 46 points on the week, which puts me just 21 behind the league leader on 658 overall points. I was led by the resurgence of Philippe Coutinho, who posted 18 points on 1 goal, 3 assists and 2 bonus points. New boy, Xheridan Shaqiri chipped in with a goal and 2 bonus points for 8 points.
Dele Alli, Wilfried Zaha and Richarlison failed to score, that’s back to back no returns for the Brazilian but will continue to hold faith in him with Watford’s upcoming fixtures. Zaha could be on the way out. Even under new management, Zaha has returned just once in the last 5 games. Alli continues to be a mystery, I thought he would turn his season around, but much like Eriksen and Spurs in general, he continues to struggle, but can’t see ridding myself of him.
It was a defensive fail this last week, as Shkodran Mustafi went off injured against Man United, his status is questionable for the upcoming game week. Chelsea, like Man City I had aspirations of clean sheets against some of the lower tiered competition, but Chelsea leaked a cheap goal and Cesar Azpilicueta picked up just 2 points. While Bournemouth is in a run of fine fixtures, with 3 clean sheets in the last 4, Charlie Daniels and the Cherries couldn’t keep it clean against a poor So’ton team.
All the hype with Man City hosting West Ham and the Sky Blues could only muster 2 goals. With 84 minutes played, Sergio Aguero returned nothing! He’s now started the last 3 games, returning just 1 goal. He will start in the starting XI all season, but he’s been something of a disappointment recently. I brought Wayne Rooney back into the starting XI on the back the a hat trick in Gameweek 14 playing in the #10 role. He did pick up an assist and provide 5 points on the week.
Already looking ahead to Gameweek 16 with 4 transactions ready to go. As mentioned at the start, there are no active managers so I should pick up some new talent by Friday to introduce into my starting XI.
