GW35+ Retrospect: Shit Show

Where should I start? Let’s go back to GW33+ that saw 81 points and a green arrow with an improved in the OR to a season high, 153k! Yet green with envy, it was short lived as  GW34+  I missed the weekly average (59) finishing on 52 points thanks in part to Son not starting and Laporte not playing in a week that City picked up clean sheet. GW35+ was a roll of the dice, so to speak, as I was in the second leg of the quarterfinals of the Banterbury H2H League. It was a league I didn’t put much thought into but found myself down two points heading into the season leg.

Ahead of the game week I had two FTs and decided to take a hit (-4) to bring in three new players, backing Chelsea to make a mockery of the Blades at Bramall Lane. Already owning Azpilicueta I doubled up on the Blues attack adding Giroud and Willan to the mix. Initial plans were to TC Giroud, but back off that and give the Brazilian the armband. The Blades were near the bottom of every defensive category since the restart, so I decided to play the numbers, which didn’t fair well at all. 3-0 thrashing scoring me a combined 7 points.

The other transfer in was Welbeck home to Newcastle, which saw the Hornets pick up two goals (Deeney) and Danny a fat zero! If I would have stuck with Jimenez (8), Son 13)  and Nketiah (suspended) that would have scored me 21 points and a victory in the Banterbury League.

In GW35+ it was another Manchester Untied showing, as Fernandes, (5), Rashford (7) and Martial (13) combined for 25 points. KDB was a part time player, with no return, while the City defense picked up another CS and 12 points for Ederson and Laporte. The bench was excelennt, a combined 23 points, with Dobhery (6) and Dendoncker (9) leading the way, which Femenia (5) picked up his first assist on the season.

LOOKING AHEAD to GW36+

Plans were to roll the transfer, but I couldn’t look at that Liverpool defense any longer, as I moved Alexander-Arnold on and replaced him with Digne (AVL/shu/BOU), as Everton have some good fixtures to finish the season. It also leaves me with £4.0 ITB.

This week I will revert back to a 4-4-2, as Welbeck is first bench, deciding to start Giroud at home against the relegated Canaries. Hopefully the Frenchman plans and can pick up something to salvage his showing last week. Wililan retains his starting spot and keeps the captain’s armband, even though conventional thought says to put it on a United player, I am looking for that differential captain for any sort of advantage. This will be the last chance for the Blues to pick up a CS.

The three headed monster that is Fernandes, Martial and Rashford will all start, away to Palace and treble City; KDB, Laporte and Ederson will feature at home against Bournemouth. Doherty, after last week off gets his starting spot back away to Burley and my new boy, Digne is home to Villa. Great match ups SHOULD yield good points, which means we could end up seeing a very high average for the game week.

Good luck as we are a week closer to finishing this season…
