VAPM Update: GW7

The value added per million or VAPM has been updated to include GW7 with prices current as of November 3. Not surprisingly, defenders dominate the top of the chart, as Max Kilman picked up his fourth start, as Wolves claimed their third clean sheet in four weeks. Could the league finally be settling down after seven week of action? It appears that way, as Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma and Ben Chilwell are just behind Kilman, The Chelsea center back helped his cause with a goal and clean sheet, scoring 14 points. Chilwell quiet on the day did help the Blues to their third clean sheet in the last four as well.

It appears Aston Villa has started that slow slide backwards, conceding seven goals in their last two games. How you give up four to Southampton is a real head scratcher. No surprise that the early defensive leaders; Tyrone Mings, Konsa Ngoyo and Emiliano Martinez continue to drop but could hold some good potential after the break as they hit a nice purple patch through Christmas.

Staying with Villa, Jack Grealish has been on fire recently, as he’s overtaken, Wilf Zaha, Jorginho and Son Heung-min to claim the top VAPM midfielder after a goal and two assists, 15 points! Much like his defensive teammates, it’s time to give Grealish a shout if you are not already on him. He’s currently owned by 38.1% in the top 1k and 28.3% across FPL and could be that differential captain FPL managers are looking for.

Is there anyone on Callum Wilson? Did you know he’s outscored Dominic Calvert-Lewin, yet DLC’s ownership is 56.8% across FPL, while Wilson is a nice differential at 12.5%. He could potentially save you over a million in budget, depending on when you got in on him. Take nothing away from DCL, the Everton man found the net again in GW7, even with suspensions and injuries to Luca Digne, Richarlison and James Rodriguez. Must be Carlo Ancelotti’s system that fits the big man.

There are some newcomers who cracked the 0.35 baseline this week including Ola Aina, but far be it from me to bring in ANY Fulham defender. Aren’t they already relegated? James Ward-Prowse, on the back of a brace cracks the top of the list and at 5.9 could be that Jorginho replacement, if you had the Chelsea man as your fifth midfielder. Please tell me I wasn’t the only on him? Aymeric Laporte picked up just his second start of the season, but I do believe this is the player the Sky Blues need to be healthy and starting every game to get this defense turned around. City did pick up a clean sheet against Sheffield United. Since Laporte has been sidelined, I actually used Kyle Walker as a placeholder and the defender responded with a goal and clean sheet this week. Still, he’s a bit pricey. Pedro Neto, Connor Coady, Harvey Barnes, Karlan Grant, Youri Tielemands and Stuart Dallas are also new to the list.

Draw your own conclusions when it comes to this key metric. I still hold true that players are are considering should come from this list. Not that I use this list solely as the deciding factor, but it does give you some idea as to where these players are from week to week, based on VAPM. Use whatever data or metrics you do, but using this chart to compare or contrast players could be interest.
